Yes, we did a thing! JD and I bought a motor home back in January of 2023.
We knew that camping for over a year would be a lot of work, but we wanted to create memorable experiences with our family. Although we considered buying a home, we decided to try out camping first to see if we enjoyed it. Camping was fun, but it got a little repetitive, and there were limitations to what we could do in a camper. On the other hand, owning a home had benefits that we couldn't get from camping. As we wanted to have a home base in Florida for our family vacations, camping wouldn't have worked out because there wasn't enough room to accommodate all of us. We could only sleep six people in the camper, which was cramped. Therefore, we decided to buy a home back in May 2023 that could accommodate everyone, and we could sleep up to 15 people in the house. Owning a home also gave us more flexibility and convenience than camping ever could And no, we didn't get rid of the camper; we're currently renting it out at certain campgrounds in Daytona!
If you're interested in renting out the motorhome for a few days during your trip to Florida, please message me for more details!!
After purchasing the home in May, I didn't have much time to work on it in Florida as i have a business to run and home responsibilities. So, my niece Nicole and I took a trip to Florida for 2 weeks in October 2023 to work on the house. When we bought the house, we noticed that some things were outdated and needed a little makeover, such as new paint, baseboards, and, of course, furniture. A lot of blood, sweat, and tears of laughter went into this over the two week period, but I am thrilled with the results and proud to call it my home away from home.
Here are some photos of the work we have done
Overall, I am happy to have a home base where my family can travel to. I can't wait to make many more memories there in the years to come!
